Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Monday vowed to issue an order tomorrow (Tuesday) about release of Taliban prisoners.
In the deal with the United States, the Taliban have demanded release of 5,000 of their prisoners before intra-Afghan talks scheduled to start tomorrow.
Speaking at the inauguration of his second term, Ghani, who had previously rejected their release, said that he will issue an order tomorrow about the release.
Ghani expected that the Taliban will significantly reduce violence in return for the release of their prisoners.
He said that the government’s negotiating team will be finalized by tomorrow.
