The final results of Afghan presidential election will be announced today or tomorrow, a member of the Independent Election Commission said on Tuesday.
IEC commissioner Hanif Danishyar said that both partial recounting and auditing of votes as requested by the complaints commission had been completed.
He said that the report of the latest stage is on IEC board’s table for discussion.
“If there is no problem in the report and implementation of IEC’s secretariat, we hope to put an end to people’s waiting today, otherwise tomorrow we will surely announce the final results tomorrow,” Danishyar said.
IEC had declared incumbent president Ashraf Ghani in the lead with 50.64 percent.
His main challenger, however, rejected the results saying the commission had failed to tackle fraud.
Abdullah’s supporters have been warning of forming parallel government if final results are rigged.
