At least six people have been killed and several others were missing after avalanches in Afghanistan’s central Daikundi province, officials said on Thursday.
In one incident in Miramor district, four people were killed and two others went missing when an avalanche hit a house, said Sakina Ihsani, spokesperson for provincial governor.
Another avalanche hit a barn in Pay Kotal Qunaq area, as a result of which a man and 60 sheep went missing, she said.
The avalanche in Ashtarli district partly damaged a school.
The official said that there were 16 avalanches on Wednesday in Daikundi and 90 percent of roads connecting the provincial capital with the districts were closed.
Three days ago, two people, both women, were killed while five others including three children and two old men were injured in an avalanche in Robat area of Miramor district.
