At least 15 Afghan forces were killed after Taliban militants attacked their checkpoints in the country’s northern Kunduz province last night, a security source said on Wednesday.
Thirteen others were wounded in the attack which happened in Culop area of Dasht-i-Archi district.
The deaths included 14 army soldiers and one member of national police. Eight soldiers, two national police and three police were wounded.
Four soldiers were captured by the militants.
Safiullah Amiri, the provincial council chief, confirmed to 1TV death of 13 forces and wounding 12 others in the attack.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault and exaggerated casualty figure.
Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry in a statement on Wednesday said that eight Taliban militants were killed in an airstrike in Dasht-i-Archi district last night.
