At least seven civilians were killed in an airstrike by government forces in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province late on Saturday, local residents said.
The Defense Ministry said that it would dispatch a probe team to the site of the strike which happened last night in Boka village of Balkh district.
Dozens of people carrying bodies from the strike gathered to demand justice.
Abdul Ghani, an old man, said that he lost seven members of his family in the raid. They included four women and three children, he said.
Two others were wounded in the strike, Abdul Ghani said.
“As a teacher, I urge the government to hold the culprits accountable,” a resident said.
Gul Rahman Hamdard, a lawmaker representing Balkh in the Lower House of the parliament, said that it was not the first time that such incidents happen.
