Afghanistan have defeated Pakistan several times, but it is World Cup and a different venue and they need to play sensibly in their quarterfinal on Friday, Afghan coach Raees Ahmadzai said on Sunday.
Ahmadzai said that Afghanistan will take advantage of positive points from their previous match in the next clash.
He said that Pakistan was a strong team, but he said that he was confident that Afghanistan will play well in their quarterfinal.
Ahmadzai said that considering their losses against Afghanistan in previous matches, Pakistan will feel pressure in their next clash.
He said that the two matches which Afghanistan played in World Cup showed that their batting has improved.
He said that Afghanistan’s bowlers were also good, particularly spinners, notably Shaifiqullah Ghafari who took 11 wickets alone in the two matches.
Afghanistan defeated hosts South Africa by seven wickets before beating UAE by 160 runs. Their third match – against Canada – was abandoned due to rain.
