Afghanistan defeated England by 21 runs in their second warm-up match ahead of the ICC U-19 World Cup on Tuesday.
Opting to bat after winning the toss in South Africa’s Hammanskraal town, Afghanistan posted 205-8 as they played all the mandated 50 overs.
Defending the total, Afghanistan bowled England out for 184 in 47.2 overs.
For Afghanistan, Abdul Rahman top scored with 54, followed by Mohammad Ishaq who made 43 not out. Abid Mohammadi and Ibrahim Zadran contributed with 26 and 24 each respectively.
Fazal Haqui claimed three wickets for Afghanistan, while Abdul Rahman, Noor Ahmad and Shafiqullah Ghafari picked up two each.
For England, Joey Evision’s 37 was their highest individual score. Blake Cullen picked up three wickets.
The warm-up match was Afghanistan’s second ahead of U-19 World Cup after that against India, which they lost.
Afghanistan will face hosts South Africa in their first match of the tournament on Friday.
