The governor of Mohammad Agha district in Logar has been sentenced to 10.5 years in prison for accepting millions of afghanis bribe.
Noor Mohammad Obaidi was accused of taking 18 million afghanis and the verdict was issued by the anti-corruption court, the Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.
Apart from being sentenced to imprisonment, the culprit is required to pay the money he took as bribe.
Culprits in the bribery case had been arrested on the spot from Kabul’sSarai Shahzadacurrency market in July this year.
Obaidi had demanded 18 million afghanisfrom a person who was seeking the return of his land, according to the prosecutor.
