At least seven Afghan army soldiers were killed as militants attacked a joint base of army and intelligence forces in northern Balkh province on Tuesday, the country’s defense ministry said.
The attack in Khili Guli area of Dawlat Abad district happened before dawn around 4:30a.m., the ministry said in a statement.
Six others were wounded in the attack, including three army soldiers and three personnel of National Directorate of Security, the statement said.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Separately, MoD said on Tuesday 109 militants were killed in operations in 15 provinces of the country over the last 24 hours.
Forty-five other militants were wounded, it said.
