Casualties among Afghanistan’s security forces have declined by 10 percent this year, the country’s Acting Interior Minister Massoud Andarabi said on Thursday.
Addressing a gathering of Women’s Advisory Committee on Peace, Andarabi said that casualties among Afghan forces declined despite the Taliban increasing their attacks by 12 percent this year.
Recently, the Washington Post in a report said that the United States flooded Afghanistan with far more aid than it could possibly absorb.
It also said that since 2001, Afghan security forces suffered 64,124 deaths while Taliban fighters and other insurgents suffered 42,100.
Afghan First Lady Rula Ghani criticized the media for “negative portrayal” of Afghanistan. She said that the international aid established a strong foundation for Afghanistan to become prosperous and developed.
