Asghar Afghan has been reappointed as the captain of Afghanistan cricket team across all formats, the country’s cricket board announced on Wednesday.
Asghar replaced Rashid Khan who served in the role since July this year. Rashid has been appointed as vice-captain.
Asghar had been removed as captain in April this year, a month before the ICC Men Cricket World Cup 2019, where Afghanistan lost all their matches.
The move had been criticized by cricket commentators and major players in the team including Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi.
Asghar said that as a captain he would share his experience with his vice-captain Rashid Khan.
“No captain shares his experience with another in the world, but we are Afghans and we should build a system for Afghanistan,” Asghar said.
