At least two people were killed and 73 others were wounded in a militant attack near the largest US base in Afghanistan in Bagram district of Parwan province on Wednesday, officials said.
The attack started with a truck bombing near a medical facility under construction close to the base in the morning. Gunmen then entered the facility.
It was so powerful that it caused damages 200 meters from the blast site, said Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Interior Ministry.
Two Afghans civilians were killed and 73 others were wounded in the attack, Rahimi said in the evening of the day.
According to Rahimi, three assailiants were killed while another arrested and the operation was still ongoing.
A spokesman for Resolute Support Missionsaid that the attacktargeted a medical facility being constructed to help the Afghan people who live near the base.
Georgian defense ministry said that five of its soldiers received light injuries in the attack.
Taliban claimed responsibility for theassault.
It comes as US and Taliban have resumed talks in Qatari capital Doha, months after they were halted by President Donald Trump who cited a deadly attack in Kabul in announcing the decision.
