Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah on Wednesday accused the country’s Independent Election Commission of favouring certain team.
“The election commission is operating under the instruction of a certain team, their independence is in question and the outcome of their work has no legitimacy,” Abdullah said on Facebook.
“If the commission doesn’t get back to legal path, the responsibility for consequences will be borne by the commission and those who encouraged it toward illegal path,” Abdullah said.
He warned of “using every legal, legitimate and peaceful means to prevent formation of a fraudulent government.”
Abdullah’s supporters have blocked partial recounting process in seven provinces. He claims that IEC has added 300,000 disputed votes to the count.
IEC has previously said it is neutral and working according to laws.
Meanwhile, Council of Presidential Candidate on Wednesday warned that it would not accept “fraudulent results” from the election.
Yosuf Rashid, head of Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan, urged IEC to address candidates’ concerns in the presence of observer institutions and media.
