Nine civilians have been killed in a coalition airstrike in Afghanistan’s western Farah province, an official said Sunday.
Five others including a child were wounded in the incident which happened in Gajgin village of Pusht-i-Rod district on Saturday night, said Khair Mohammad Nawrozi, a provincial council member.
Farah’s hospital officials said that three of those wounded were in life-threatening condition and they were shifted to another hospital in neighbouring Herat province.
Meanwhile, local officials urged the central government to investigate the incident and take serious actions to prevent such incidents.
A spokesman for Farah governor, however, said that the airstrike was carried out by Afghan forces and that it killed five Taliban militants.
