Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their third match of Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh on Monday and advanced to semi-finals of the tournament.
Choosing to field first after winning the toss, Samiullah Shinwari-led Afghan side bowled out Sri Lanka on 238 with one ball remaining from 50 overs.
Afghanistan chased down the 239-run target in 44.5 overs with Shahidullah scoring 102 not out. Darwish Rasooli and Abdul Malik helped with 61 and 47 each respectively.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s captain Charith Asalanka also scored century.
Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai and Abdul Wasi claimed three wickets each.
The win was Afghanistan’s second in the tournament after beating Oman by nine wickets.
