Afghanistan secured 2-1 T20I series victory over West Indies, two-time ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title-holders, after beating their rivals by 29 runs in the third and final match on Sunday.
It was Afghanistan’s second bilateral series win against top ten teams in the ICC T20I rankings after whitewashing Bangladesh 3-0 last year.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan posted 156-8 as they played all the mandated 20 overs in India’s Lucknow.
Youngster Rahmanullah Gurbaz slammed 79 off 52 balls, including six fours and five sixes. Asghar Afghan followed with 24 off 20 balls.
West Indies fell short of the target by 29 runs, despite Shai Hope hitting a fifty.
Naveen-ul-Haq claimed three wickets for Afghanistan.
Earlier, Afghanistan were whitewashed by West Indies in a three-match ODI series during the tour.
The sides will play one-off Test starting on Wednesday.
