US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad met with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday.
During the meeting, Khan called on all sides to take practical steps for checking violence in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
He said it was equally important to guard against the negative narratives and efforts by any quarter to undermine the progress made so far through painstaking efforts.
He said that Pakistan will continue to play its role as a sincere and honest friend for peace in Afghanistan.
Khalilzad held peace talks with the Taliban for a year before US President Donald Trump halted them last month, citing a deadly attack in Kabul.
Washington, however, is looking to revive the process and before traveling to Pakistan, Khalilzad held talks with Chinese and Russian representatives in Moscow, and with Afghan leaders in Kabul.
