Afghan security forces have recaptured key district of Dahan-e-Ghori in northern Baghlan province after three years, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry said that the country’s national flag was now flying over the district’s headquarters.
It said that the Taliban suffered heavy casualties in the operation to reclaim the district, but did not provide an exact figure.
Dahan-e-Ghori district is next to the provincial capital of Pul-e-Khumri.
Taliban had captured the district in August 2016.
