Seventy-five percent of internet consumption will be on mobile in 2017, an increase of seven percent compared with situation this year, according to a report released this week.
Overall, consumers are tending to devote more time to mobile internet use. The mobile proportion of internet use has increased from 40 percent in 2012 and according to the recent forecast it will reach 79 percent in 2018.
The report by Zenith titled Mobile Advertising Forecasts added that 60 percent of internet advertising will be through mobile in 2018.
Mobile advertising expenditure will total $134 billion, which is “more than will be spent on newspaper, magazine, cinema and outdoor advertising put together,” it said.
Based on the report, Spain (85%) , Hong Kong (79%) and China (76%) lead mobile internet consumption.
The increase in mobile internet consumption was said to have been driven by the rapid rsie in the penetration of mobile in devices. While in 2012, just 23 percent of people had a smartphone, now the figure has risen to 56%.
