A Turkish cargo jet crashed in a village in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, killing at least 32, most of them on the ground as it tried to land in a dense fog, Kyrgyz officials said.
The plan was expected to make stopover at Manas airport near the capital city Bishke on its way from Hong Kong to Istanbul.
The Boeing 747 crash damaged 15 buildings in the village, said Mukhammed Sarov, head of crisis management centre at the emergencies ministry.
The visibility was poor when the crash happened, but the cause of the incident hass not been confirmed.
The main airport in the country, Manas, was closed following the crash.
Rescue workers recovered the body of a pilot and 15 villagers, according to the country’s healthcare ministry.
