Afghanistan football team are expected to play three friendly games – against Maldives, Oman, Tajikistan – this year.
Each match will be played ahead of every three upcoming fixtures Afghanistan have on Asian Cup qualifier, according to Ali Askar Alali, Afghanistan’s football manager.
The first friendly will be against Maldives which will be played on 6th June in Dubai, a week before Afghanistan take on Cambodia in their second Asian Cup qualifier match.
The next will be against Oman on 30th August, a week before Jordan’s ACQ encounter.
And the final will be against Tajikistan on 4th October, a week before Afghanistan meets Jordan again as part of ACQ.
The friendlies are expected as Afghanistan are 153rd on FIFA world rankings, while Maldives, Oman and Tajikistan are 151st, 114th and 138th.
Twenty-four teams in six groups are competing in the third round of qualifiers for AFC Asian Cup.
The two top teams from each of the groups will make it to AFC Asian Cup in UAE in 2019.
Afghanistan drew with Vietnam 1-1 in their first match of the qualifiers in March.
