Mohammad Nabi, first Afghan to be bought in the Indian Premier League, has arrived in Hyderabad ahead of the tournament due to begin on Wednesday.
“The first ever Afghan to be bought in the IPL 2017 auction has finally arrived. Welcome to the Orange Army Mohammad Nabi,” his team Sunrisers Hyderabad tweeted.
The all-rounder was bought along with his national mate Rashid Khan was bought by the franchise in April auction at $30,000.
His mate is also in Hyderabad, where Sunrisers will play first IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
VVS Laxman, who is the mentor of Sunrisers, has said that the franchise is excited to have the two Afghanistan players.
“Both these players are doing well and amongst runs and wickets… I believe it is a great opportunity for these two players to inspire a nation like Afghanistan. If you dream big you can achieve anything,” he said.
Laxman said that Nabi can bat at number 5 or 6 as he described Rashid Khan as the X factor for SRH.
