Afghanistan defeated India by two wickets and with 21 balls remaining as they booked their place in the semi-finals stage of Emerging Teams Cup in Bangladesh on Thursday.
India U-23s who won the toss posted 242-8 as they played all the 50 mandated overs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
Hanuma Vihari scored 50-plus whild Shubman Gill, followed by Shubman Gill who made 46.
Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan A as he took four wickets. He was declared man of the match.
Chasing 243-run target, Younas Ahmadzai and Samiullah Shinwari both hit half-centuries. Opener Shahidullah Shahidi scored 42 runs before his side claimed victory in the 47th over.
Afghanistan went to the play as they had one win and one loss in their record. The win had come and in the opener against Malaysia while the loss came against Sri Lanka.
With the win, Afghanistan are placed on the second position in Group A on the points table after Sri Lanka and have advanced to the next semi-finals stage of the tournament.
