Afghanistan national side on Thursday left Kabul for Desert T20 tournament in Abu Dhabi of UAE which will kick off on January 14.
The series will be played between eight associate countries separated into two groups, said Sher Agha, the national team manager said.
Afghanistan, Ireland, the United Arabic Emirates in Pool A, and Namibia the Netherlands, Scotland, Oman and Hong Kong in Pool B.
"We are fully prepared for the Desert T20 series," said the Afghan national team captain, Asghar Stanikzai, "Our moral is high and we hope to return victorious."
At the opening fixture of the series Afghanistan will play against Ireland before taking on hosts UAE on January 16. Two days later Afghanistan will play against Namibia in Dubai.
The semi-finals and finals will be played on January 20.
"We are fully prepared for the tournament," Lalchand Rajput, the Afghan cricket coach said," Our aim is to bring victory which will boost the moral of the national team."
Rajput also called on Afghan media outlets to encourage and support the national team.
According to Afghan cricket officials, after the Desert T20 tournament, the national team will have practice matches for a four-day game against Australia which will be held from February 9 to 13.
Following the four-day match, Afghanistan will take on hosts Zimbabwe in five One-day International series.
