U.S. rap superstar Kanye West was hospitalized on Monday after abruptly cancelling the remainder of his national concert tour.
Some media reports suggested that the 39-year-old Grammy-winning musician was admitted to hospital in Los Angeles for exhaustion.
Others said that the decision came after police responded to a medical welfare call.
According to concert promoters Live Nation, the remaining 21 U.S. events on the hip-hop superstar’s Saint Pablo tour had been cancelled and fans who bought tickets would be refunded.
“He is exhausted and currently dealing with sleep deprivation. He went to the hospital at will under the advice of his physician. He’s fine,” an unnamed source told People.
The cancellation of West’s tour follows a number of controversies. On November 17 in California, West shocked his fans by announcing during a concert that he would have voted for Donald Trump if he had voted at all.
Two days later, he also blasted Google, Hillary Clinton and Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg.
The cancellation of tour is estimated to cause $30 million loss to the rapper.
