Iran has criticized use of most powerful non-nuclear bomb by the United States in Afghanistan.
More than 90 Islamic State militants were killed when the bomb, known as mother of all bombs, hit IS caves in Achin district, in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province.
Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that dropping “unconventional and massive bombs” in Afghanistan is “illegitimate.”
“Bombarding people and countries will never be capable of providing national security,” Shamkhani was quoted as saying by Iran’s state news agency IRNA.
He further claimed that some measures taken by the U.S. and its regional allies have caused the creation of terror groups.
It was the first time that the U.S. used the bomb in combat at it aims to eliminate IS in Afghanistan this year.
Afghan government said that it was part of a joint operation by Afghan and the coalition forces.
