An Afghan girl died after being hit by a bullet in northern Takhar province overnight, officials said Saturday.
The girl hailed from Farkhar district and the incident happened in the house of one of her relatives in Aq Balaq village of Sari Sang area in the provincial capital city, Taloqan.
She died after being hit by bullet from a machine gun.
Faqir Mohammad Jowzjani, the provincial police chief, said that one person was arrested in connection with the incident.
Citing preliminary investigation, the official added that the girl was not deliberately killed.
Twelve Taliban militants killed in Ghazni
Meanwhile, in central Ghanzi province, 12 Taliban militants were killed by the Afghan forces in Waghez district, officials said Saturday.
Four more were injured in the encounter which happened as the militants in two stolen trucks on Kabul-Kandahar highway, the provincial police chief said.
Aminullah Amarkheil added that eight insurgents, all Pakistani nationals, were killed in an airstrike by Afghan forces in Giro district.
