An explosion targeted a police convoy escorting prisoners in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Tuesday, killing at least three people.
The convoy was heading from Helmand to neighbouring Kandahar when it was hit by the explosion in Dorahi area of the provincial capital city, Lashkargah.
Abdul Sattar Noorzai, the commander of 601th Highway Police Battalion, said that the attack targeted special police forces who were escorting prisoners to Kandahar.
According to the official, the one member of police was killed while two others were injured in the attack.
However, security sources told 1TV that the attack also lefttwo prisoners dead.
Taliban didn’t immediately claim responsibility for the attack.
It came a day after 11 policemen were killed in an apparent insider attack by the militant group in the province.
