NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and the European Union have praised the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) as the country marked its first national day of ANSDF on Monday.
The government has dedicated 9 Hoot (Afghan calendar) as Armed Forces Day to praise their “bravery and sacrifice".
"On ANDSF day we remember the many Afghan security forces who have been martyred or injured for their country. Resolute Support trains, advises and assists Afghan forces so they can protect their country," said the commander of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission and U.S. forces commander in Afghanistan in a statement.
Describing Afghan forces as their valuable friends and partners Gen. John Nicholson said: "Afghanistan can be proud of her sons and daughters who serve in uniform."
"NATO is committed to a peaceful, prosperous and stable Afghanistan and is committed to Afghanistan because we know we have enduring partners in the Government, security forces, and people," he added.
Meanwhile, Franz Michael Mellbin, the EU Special Representative in Afghanistan has praised the Afghan forces.
"I salute the heroic women and men of the Afghan National Security Forces for their brave defense of Afghanistan. We stand by you!," Mellbin wrote on his Twitter.
