At least 22 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in eastern Nangarhar province over the past 24 hours, following Afghan security forces air and ground operation, local officials said Wednesday.
The operation was conducted in Haska and Kot districts of the province that also wounded nine other IS insurgents, a statement of the provincial media office said.
One other IS militant was arrested, the statement said, adding that Afghan forces have seized ammunition as well.
However, the statement did not say if there were casualties on security personnel.
The operation named Shaheen 25 has been launched in the province since four days and during that dozens IS insurgents have been killed.
