At least eight Afghan police officers have been killed in a insider attack in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, officials said.
The incident happened at a security check post in Almar area of the province.
Karim Yurish, a spokesman for the provincial police chief said that the commander of the check post, Shir Alam has been also among the dead officers.
According to Yurish, the incident took place after Shir Alam's nephew in collaboration with the Taliban, killed his colleagues at the check post.
Insider attacks have killed dozens of Afghan security forces since the beginning of the last year and the Taliban have claimed responsibility for most of them.
