Two people broke out of a Taliban jail in Afghanistan's northern Takhar province overnight, officials said Wednesday.
The two who were residents of Baghlan province were being held as captives by the Taliban in Ishkamish district.
Khaleel Aseer, a spokesman for provincial police, said that the two took weapons after breaking out of the cell in Nawabad area of the district and killed five Taliban insurgents.
They immediately travelled to Baraka district of their hometown Baghlan province and reported to police.
They had been captured by the insurgents apparently because one of their relatives had given a Taliban-held Humvee to the government.
Taliban didn't immediately comment on the report.
