The first Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum has ordered detention of five top commanders including Abdul Sabor Qani the Head of the National Directorate of Security in northern Faryab and Shamal Qumandan, the leader of a popular revolt group in the province.
Shamal Qumandan was detained over negligence in his duty and harassment of the people in Faryab, sources close to Gen. Dostum told 1TV.
However, the reason behind detention of four others senior commanders were not clear.
Gen. Dostum joined the Afghan security forces in the frontline in Faryab earlier weeks ago to supervise operation against the Taliban militants in the province.
With Taliban militants on the offensive, Afghan forces are in advancement progress since the army led by Gen. Dostum in the province, recently Afghan forces retake Ghormach district following its brief seizure by militants.
